PowerSchool is running and I have entered students score for their first task. The score reflects the degree of completeness/effort based on the following rubric Homework Criteria  You will see a traditional grade posted next to the assignment, please ignore the traditional grade.

The following rubric is used to assess exit tickets which is based on students content knowledge.

Mrs. Lemnah and Mrs. Allard are looking for you to complete the Math Mindset Survey.  You have taken this survey in paper form, but we want to have a quick and easy way to collect the class data.  It is our goal to analyze the data, and then make a plan of action around your responses.

Dear Parent,

We are excited to implement a new web-based curriculum called MobyMax in our classroom. MobyMax is an online skill building program that is tailored to your child's individual needs, and we think you will be very impressed by how fast your child will excel while using Moby. Moby's features include:

- Placement tests that accurately identify where your child excels, and where his or her
"missing skills" are.
- Targeted instruction for undeveloped skills.
- Systematic review sessions that ensure that your child retains 100% of what he or she has learned

Best of all, since MobyMax is an online program, it can be accessed anytime, anywhere providing there is access to a computer/tablet and an internet connection. A pre-assessment begins the program, and lessons follow thereafter. We are asking that your child practice for at least 5 minutes in the “Fact Master” to sustain fluency, and then practice for at least 20 minutes in “Math” on the computer-generated lessons.

Login steps for [Student]
1. Please go to www.mobymax.com/signin
2. Enter School Code: vt165
3. Enter
Username: first initial last name (no spaces, no capital letters)
Password: first initial last name last 2 digits of graduation* year

*6th grade is: 22 *7th grade is: 21 *8th grade is: 20

You can sign in as a parent as well by selecting "Parent" from the drop-down menu and entering your child's username and password. You will be able to monitor your child's progress and even send messages to us.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Please feel free to contact us should you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
Francine Lemnah

2015-2016 School Year

Unit 1 for Grades 6-8th descriptions and information:

6th grade: Greatest Common Factor, Least Common Multiple and Distributive Property.
This Unit focuses on the properties of whole numbers, especially those related to multiplication and division. Students will learn about factors, multiples, divisors, products, prime numbers, composite numbers, common factors and multiples, and many other ideas about numbers. Students will participate in a series of activities that reflect many of the key properties of numbers and learn how to use these properties to solve problems.

7th grade: Ratios and Proportions
In this unit, students will continue to use multiplicative reasoning along with proportional relationships to compare quantities, determine missing values, and solve problems.

8th grade: Linear Relationships
In this unit, students will review linear functions and equations, be introduced to non-linear functions (inverse functions) and algebraic equations involving inequalities. Students will create, analyze and interpret equations, graphs and tables and predict whether or not an equation is a linear or non-linear function. Students will identify an equation to represent a line of best fit in a scatter plot. Students will understand that the way a function is represented does not change the function although different representations may be more useful than others and may highlight different characteristics.
